I am a 46 year old artist and sculptor. I have experience of nearly 25 years. I have held many art exhibitions, obtained a lot of honorary certificates and obtained a qualification certificate (drawing and decoration).
Art is my whole life so I decided to write you in order to help me to get a scholarship to continue my studies of art and help promote my artworks (Graduate degrees in Art).
The ultimate dream is to do portraits as I feel people are wonderful subjects as every face tells a story.
I would love to win this art course so I could get the help and teaching that I so much desire. I’m sure I have developed bad habits that would drive professional artist mad, but I’m like a sponge and just want to learn as much as I can to improve my art.

I am retired after 40 years in the accounting profession and have been drawing for about 9 months. Having never drawn with a purpose before, I found the process to be very challenging. Accountants like to ‘draw’ legible numbers in little boxes. After seeing some examples on youtube, I was fascinated with the hyperrealism of some of the portraits and still life people are able to do and unfortunately, was able to occasionally produce a drawing that people would say, usually questioningly, who they thought it was. They were correct about half the time. Undaunted, I press on. The pleasure of showing a portrait and have instant recognition of the subject is very satisfying. Drawing a person is very different from drawing a particular person.

I have been drawing and painting off and on all my life, but get frustrated with my efforts because there is so much I don’t know and have never been able to find a source where I could learn the things I want to. I want to reach a point in my drawing ability where I can draw whatever is in front of me with confidence and skill. Right now I have the desire but when I try I don’t know where to start or how to proceed.
