It’s not a Florence, not Paris, not Barcelona, not Madrid, not St-Petersburg where I met the most beautiful piece of art. The place where that piece is kept – North Carolina Museum of Art in Raleigh (no kidding). The masterpiece is marble sculpture of Venus Italica by Antonio Canova. In the museum it used to stand in dark room with soft light. The light and shadows emphases beautiful shapes and texture of the statue. When look at it you better understand what means idiom “marble skin” and why ancient Greeks adore the sculptures and the artists who created them…

Hi, I’m Gustavo Rivera and I am artistically known as Gutí. I am a graphic designer and plastic artist with strong impressionist influence. At present I combine elements of graphic design with painting, such as acrylic with media, inks and oil. In my drawings I show an interest marked by artistic detail, without falling into excessive photographic realism.

A rose by any other name

My name is Amanda and at 30 years old I finally decided what is it I want to do for the rest of my life. I started taking Graphic Design classes online in August. Luckily I have a very supportive Husband and two young children that think it’s so cool that Mom goes to school on the computer.

I have loved art since as long as I can remember and have dragged my family into every art museum every vacation we ever had. I’ve taken every extra art class I could in school, but I know I need more to really feel good about my artwork.

My control over graphite

I have graduated from an autonomous college of fine arts in Bangalore, India. I believe that I can tell my prayers to the creator by doing my work. And my line of work is art. Art is a medium through which i tell my prayers, an unconditional prayer.

The challenges I face are that I am not able to produce quality work all the time. Seeking or making an opportunity to improve myself is a challenge. I want learn all kind of things in art, I don’t want to limit myself to a particular subject in art.

Love is a great force

I rediscovered my for love for art more than a decade ago and I haven’t let it go.

I am a self taught artist, since little I had love drawing and painting.

Rediscovering Myself

I have gotten to an age where I’m starting to think about what’s important to me. When we’re younger, we have a tendency to get caught up in just getting through the day, and not appreciate the things and people that make us happy.

Drawing for me is one of those things that make me happy. I took a long time off, not really doing any drawing for over 40 years.

I’ve rediscovered drawing and in turn, rediscovered myself. Since I’ve taken so long off, I need to re-learn the elements of drawing that make artwork something I can be satisfied with.

Realization of a dream

I wanted to learn how to draw since the age of seven! Drawing Academy is a great place to learn drawing. I would like to win this course very much. I will be very grateful to all who support me in the realization of a dream that I have brought since childhood!

Joy Revived!

I have always been a cheerful person loving art and nature. I am a Master Gardener and my yard was filled with beautiful flowers and herbs.

All of us run into a really big trials in our lives at one time or another. Mine was the loss of my son to Brain Cancer. I was not angry at God for a moment, but I lost my joy in life. I begin digging up flowers and plants that had meant so much to me. I was Heavenly minded and couldn’t get my feet back on the ground here on earth. This went on for years, but I kept my feelings to myself and put a smile on my face.

From Tugboat Captain to Artist

I have tried many forms of art over the years but never had the time to REALLY get into and REALLY learn. Ive done photography since I was 16 (now 52), Even done Tattooing! I worked as a Ferry and tugboat Captain, sailed tall ships as crew. Painted many pretty boats and sold them. My kids are grown now and I have so many physical limitations due to injuries that I have been stuck inside a lot. I have no income at all anymore.

I have been oil painting wet on wet for over a year now. But have recently been learning old school techniques and want to learn other mediums as well.
