I want to see people smiling more often
If I could just shade it a little darker…” I press the pencil point down on the lips of the face I’m drawing. The already worn paper gave through, allowing the pencil to rip past the multi-universe that paper represented for that short moment.
In other words: “I ruined it again” I grumble to myself and glance at the stack of paper I’ve collected of failed attempts at drawing a face. I frown and shove them off the table. I grab a new stack and start all over again, “This time for sure!”

Random paintings of the masters
Hello,
My name is Abdullah Alfalahi (Eddie) from United Arab Emirates. I’m very passionate about arts since childhood. Given where I was born, art was never in the center of attention, but I kept drawing, then was distracted eventually by work and family.
I consider art as everything in my life, art of all kinds but I mostly admire that sustainable art, and art that has a story to tell about the artist or the surrounding of that period. I decided to pursue it though researches and visiting galleries across the world. The only professional learning I have received so far is online from Web Arts Academy by Natalie Richy. I was able to learn the secrets of oil paining and drawing that I would not have learnt by experience.

Aiming for Surrealism
I’m Kurt Runge, 27, from South Africa. I started drawing from a very early age and have always loved it.
I often find my self captivated by great art and aiming to create pieces that do the same for myself and others. It was only until I came across the sample anatomy videos from Drawing Academy did I realize that this was the perfect place to learn the foundations for illustrating accurately from life and imagination.

Drawing is a base of painting
When I was young, I had classes in a school of art. It was long time ago (about 45 years) and it was a different country – Soviet Union. I did not made my way as a painter, but those lessons of drawing, composition and history of art gave me knowledge, understanding and profound love to fine arts. I did not practice painting, but occasionally did drawings and watercolor works. Just about two years ago I found a lot of classes and lessons on oil painting on YouTube. It is awesome!

I have been an artist ever since I can remember. I attended Mastbaum Vocational High School in Philadelphia where I studied commercial art. After 4 years in the USAF I was employed by General Electric Missile & Space Division in Valley Forge Pa. as a publications specialist. Eventually I was named as Art Director for the Missile & Space Division’s magazine, “Challenge”. After 20 years with GE I owned a restaurant for 20 years. I continued doing freelance art work after I retired. Too busy earning a living I never had time to become proficient in fine art.
Although I am 82 years old I am still active and now have time to learn more in painting. I have done portraits for friends and family but I would like to improve my skills.
