My nickname is Zilahi Nono and I was born in the very heart of Transylvania, namely Cluj-Napoca or Kolozsvár as we like to call it. My major is in Graphic Design, completed at the Art and Design University of Cluj-Napoca.
As a Graphical artist I profess that the work of a Graphical is the most colorful, the most varied, most creative profession in the World! I’ve tried so many areas that I master: drawing, themes, marketing materials, desktop publishing, book cover designing, illustrating, films posters, etc. Being a graphical artist is an exciting profession and as a graphic I experience daily the inimitable process of creation.

The muse who escaped oblivion: Camille Monet

Not much is left from Claude Monet’s first wife, Camille Doncieux: just one photograph, official French documents and the paintings that have immortalized her. After her premature death at only 32 years old (it is unknown whether the reason was a malpracticed abortion or cervix cancer), the painter destroyed her family photographs and all the correspondence she had ever written or received. The surviving photograph had been taken in Amsterdam in 1871, and it was saved only because Monet did not know about its existence. Nothing else was left from the woman he had married in spite of his family’s disapproval; the woman that had given him two sons. According to the art historian Daniel Wildenstein, his second wife, Alice Hoschedé, consumed by jealousy, was the one to blame for the damnatio memoriae (condemnation of memory) that was imposed on Camille.
Vincent Van Gogh or why he kept on painting

I thought about this one a lot. When so much has already been said, when almost every corner and detail of a subject has already been study so thoroughly as the life and work of Vincent van Gogh has been, is really hard to just start writing without thinking that whatever you’re about to say probably has been told a thousand times already and you don’t even know if the way you are going to tell it will be worth reading at all. As a result of these thoughts I found myself looking in doubt to the empty page for minutes at a time before closing it and giving up to the incapability of creating for another day. Days passed on like this and I was about to quit trying to write about Van Gogh.

Just Accident or Not?
An accident, yes an accident led me to be where l am today. I was born with severe health complications so that the only places I went was the doctors office, hospital and home. The only thing take with me or get a hold of was paper and a pencil or pen, so naturally I started drawing.
Sorolla’s secret to his impressive technique

Spanish painter Joaquín Sorolla y Bastida was born in Valencia in 1863, at the time in which Impressionism was starting to thrive in France. As his parents died from cholera when he was two years old, he was raised by his aunt and her husband. His uncle, a locksmith, wanted him to follow his profession, but Sorolla took on studies at the Saint Charles Royal Academy of Fine Arts of Valencia instead, where he met Impressionist painter Ignacio Pinazo, from whom he would take the influence of painting en plein air (outdoors).

I am 72 years old. I have a masters degree in Fine Arts with an emphasis on Sculpture. After bouncing around the world as a surfer and being a self employed cabinet maker, I returned to my first love, Sculpture. I have had a 30 year career as a sculptor. I displayed my sculpture at the Festival Of Arts in Laguna Beach. One year I displayed a sculptural waterwall. I was taken aback by the interest it received. It was chosen for purchase by the Festival Of Arts for it’s permanent collection. The next summer, it is an 8 week show every summer, I decided to show another water feature along with my sculpture. With a family to support and a public hungry for water features and “feng shui”, I was discovering this a viable way to earn a living as an artist.

Getting back into drawing – hear me roar!
I am a recently new stay at home mom. I had been a workaholic and am finally taking time off to recalibrate my life’s goals. I finally picked up drawing again after many years of hiatus (aka since pretty much high school, and that was decades ago). Work was rather hectic before and one day, in an effort to de-stress and I decided to open up the watercolor kit my wonderful husband bought for my birthday nearly 2 years prior.
