Feeling a little Byronic!

Story and artwork from Callum Maclaren

I love art! have loved it since I was a child, when I used to look through my parents books on artists like Van Gogh, Renoir, Monet and Manet.

I tried to copy some of these art works, but I felt there was something wrong with just copying even though I learned something from it. It did teach me an appreciation for art though that has never left me. Some kids would much rather play video games than go to an art gallery, but not me.

Jesus saying come follow Me

I am a retired architect and have enjoyed art my whole career. Prior to my career I enjoyed art as a child and often did drawings of dogs, horses and even street maps. Even back then my parents encouraged me to continue doing art works. Over the years I have acquired watercolor, oil paints and pastels such that many are plus forty years old and still useable.

Art as a way of life

Story and drawing from Geert De Vuyst

Hi, my name is Geert De Vuyst.

I am a male in his early fifties and live in Belgium between Antwerp and Ghent. There’s even an art gallery nearby with the same surname: ‘De Vuyst’ (de-vuyst.com/en)

This has some advantages, especially the fact that I have access to a lot of museums where some of the finest flemish old masters art is being kept. One of my preferred places in Antwerp is the Rubens house where Peter Paul Rubens used to live. (rubenshuis.be/en)
