Story and artwork from Salahuddin Saeed

I have been fond of painting and drawing as long as I remember. My passion with art has started when I was at the final year of my school. Art was a compulsory subject in school except for the final year. The art teacher at the government school that I have attended did not help in making art as an appealing subject.

I’ve been drawing from a very young age. I made art because it made me and my parents happy and as I grew, I received many compliments and critiques which were really encouraging me to keep on improving. Humble, but

Hi, my name is Amy. From an early age I have been drawn to Art. I remember being excited as a young girl going to the Guggenheim Museum in NYC. The images, the colors, the sculptures, and the Jackson Pollock type action paintings especially caught my attention. I took a few courses in all the public schools that I attended. And then a few at college. I have always my own thing since school. My challenges are working full-time in a non creative/art field, and then knowing how to help myself improve. I would love to learn more about Drawing. It is my favorite medium.

The seed concealed inside

Story and drawing from María Rosario Labado

My name is Rosario. I never thought that I would enrol on an art competition before. I have always liked drawing and painting, but I have never considered taking lessons with a professor. But, for the last year, I received drawing classes at school. With the guide of my teacher, I have learnt lots of techniques and helpful tools. I reached a much better level and discovered that I could draw things that without an instructor or by my self would seem impossible. He taught me how to correctly use the pencil, the proportions of the head, taking measures and drawing portraits.

Lynda Freeman Fine Art

Story and artwork from Lynda Freeman

I’m that person you all know, the one that could’ve, would’ve, should’ve and never really did. I’ve been trying to self pearn all my life, I’m now in my 50s and can’t believe I’ve left it so long to further my education with some proper tuition.

I have always loved to draw and paint and get twitchy if I don’t create something regularly. I have produced art for people that they have been happy with but to me it is never good enough. I lack confidence and fear criticism but I know to progress I need to face this flaw in my personality. Being creative isn’t a choice for me it is simply something I need to do, without it everything is grey.
