“Artist don’t make money until they’re dead,” he said. It was a harsh though for a child to stomach, but in a one utterance my father dented my dream of being an artist. I should have cried, but I did not. I just retreated back to the safety of my room. Back to a reality of infinite possibilities.

I’ve loved art my whole life. I never thought I could make a living at it, so I studied to be an accountant instead. Sometimes I doodle on the back of my spreadsheets. Sometimes I feel jealous that my kids get to take art classes in school.
What I really want to do is get good enough at art to quit accounting and make a living doing what I already love to do. As with any working mother, time is scarce, so an online course is perfect for me.
I hope you like my drawing!
