I want to improve!

I would like to transition into fine painting and drawing from more craft-type mediums.

I have been a fine craft artist, but my true love is fine art and painting. Now I finally have time to pursue my fine art goals.

Understanding tonal values and then accurately depicting them is challenging to me and I would like to be able to see them more quickly so that I can draw from real life. It takes me a very long time to see the values, especially the mid-tones. My goal is to draw portraits from real life and this requires accuracy PLUS speed because people move while sitting. After I get faster at drawing I want to understand more about color, too.

The Drawing Academy is the perfect vehicle for me to improve. The step by step approach and excellent guidance suits my learning style

Art from Imagination Improvement

Hi! My name's Rayne, and my life revolves around art. It is the most important thing to me and I would like to improve my art skills to achieve my goals. My challenges in art are mostly getting things to look realistic when I am drawing from imagination.

I want to learn how to draw humans better and how to draw from my imagination better. I also would like to learn the beautiful crosshatching that I see on this website...

My name is Mina and I'm doing painting and drawing since 2000. I graduated from Visual Art department. I am working every day (normally).

The challenge I face these days is finding different subjects and finding new techniques.

For learning art, I watch YouTube.

I think Drawing Academy is perfect and interesting place to learn new things in art...

Walking in Dreams

I've been painting and drawing since I was very young. I'm passionate about the world around me and curious of it. I love the outdoors and hold a degree in wildlife management. However, my true passion is art. It's the very air I breathe and an integral part of who I am. If unable to work on my art I feel as though I'm at full stop, but as long as I at least have a sketch pad and pencil the world seems more right, even in it's darkest moments.

I challenge most with background details and always have, I like the foreground more I think. The foreground is the part that really hits you in the face, but I also love a paintings or drawings that contain, not necessarily fine detail but intriguing detail throughout the background as well. And scale can be tricky depending on the subject matter.

My name is Peter and I live in Belgium. I have started painting again after that my brushes were locked away in a box for over 20 years. To paint again has opened a forgotten place deep inside myself, the question who am I, is now my daily activity and need. I started painting self portraits and copying the old Flemish masters.

I live on a beautiful, mountainous, tropical island which gives me an abundance of visual (and every other kind of) inspiration 24/7! Having mostly been involved with writing and music-making over the years, I always really longed to do art, but put it on hold until I "had more time." Then I suddenly realized that if I waited much longer, I might run out of time altogether! So I started up about 2 years ago, beginning to learn value, tone, perspective, etc... in graphite drawing. I started to gain some confidence in it and allowed myself to try prisma colour pencil and loved that too. I've also worked in water colour and acrylics...

Visual artist born in Buenos Aires, Argentina. I trained in painting, drawing and engraving with Martha Gavensky, Alejandro Boim, in MEEBA, Fundación Pérez Celis, with Martín Riwnyj and other artists.

I thoroughly studied Art History with José Emilio Burucúa.

Art is the main thing for me, I am into it most of the time, and think about it when I am not.

Every day is a challenge for me, as I feel I could always enhance my skills.

Time is Running Out!!

At the age of 63, I picked up a pencil and began to draw. Oh my goodness, it was pathetic. But I was not discouraged and tried again. And again. And soon I was seeing things in my drawings that I thought were pretty good and believed that if I just kept working at it, the layers of the onion would peel away and what would emerge would be: An Artist!
