I need to become the master

Story from Dante Dore

Hello, my name is Dante Dore and I am a student and scholar who has been practicing art in its many forms for nearly 20 years, however during these past few years I found myself lost and veered off the path of artistic enrichment. But it is a newfound inspiration that has brought me back and a newfound passion that I have found within the Drawing Academy to continue my journey.

The Bird Watcher

Artwork and story from Jeanne Marston

I have been painting for over 80 years – yes, since I was 6 or 7 years old. I was an orphan and lived in a state run facility. My first and favorite recollection happened one Christmas when we were all given a box of crayons and a coloring book with tracing paper between each page. I was smitten. I spent many quiet hours on my stomach, on the floor, filling every page.

Astrology in Art

Article by Flora

Astrology has always been a point of interest in the history of art. In today’s popular culture and social media circles, Astrology is a trendy area accessible to almost everyone. This was not so before the twentieth century, it used to be practiced and admired by a tiny portion of the society.

Astrology is a technique that has been developed since very early ages. It is a tool to determine the quality of time. In the past, kings and queens consulted their astrologers to select the best times to decide or start a process. In a modern sense, Astrology can also benefit self-analysis and self-improvement. It is also a way to give meaning to the universe, which allows us to extend our imagination beyond our daily experience.

Beautiful XinJiang woman

Artwork and story from Suann Li

I have loved painting since I was a child. I have been to many art galleries in the world, and I especially like oil paintings. Art plays an important role in my life. Appreciating art and painting make me feel beautiful, inexpressibly happy, full of creative desire, peaceful mind, tolerance, acceptance and calmness towards worldly things. I used to be quite busy, but now I will paint whenever I have time. Because I have not received authentic painting training since I was a child, I am self-taught, so my basic skills are not good enough. I saw your course on the Internet and was very interested. Your teachers and courses are of high quality and cannot be learned anywhere else. I have learned three of your courses, anatomy, life drawing, and old master. I have really benefited a lot. Because life drawing mainly talks about the human body, I also hope to receive more complete painting training and be able to draw better works.

“God given” talent

Drawings and story from Laura Yochum

Let’s see, about me: retired after working since I was 15 years old. I’ve worked hard and am grateful and appreciative to all I’ve achieved. I’ve accepted many challenges and have strived to achieve or complete them to the best of my ability. After retiring, I found myself, well, empty, lost and without purpose. I struggled with this for several years trying to find a new passion, a new purpose to fill all this empty time. I remembered doing a bit of drawing in my younger years, mostly for grade school academics, and found it quite satisfying and rewarding, while also quite challenging. Boom, the Trifecta for me. It amazed me how artists could produce such astonishingly realistic work, and I’ve always wished I had been born with the “God given” talent to do it as well.
