I am my art
When I wake up in the morning, my imagination is already ahead of me. Drawing out of bed to create. It’s an escape to a world of where I have the control to draw life onto one blank paper.

My first official request by a colleague, who wanted me to do a portrait of her dog, Bonnie, who is passed.
It was a very challenging piece as I had no idea how to render white fur in shadow.
I have attached two sketches prior to doing an oil painting for my husbands birthday.
The story behind the painting is a legend about Cape Point or the Cape of Storms, as it was often called many years ago. Sometime towards the end of the 17th century, a Dutch ships captain refused to listen to the advise given to him not to take his ship out to sail around the point as a storm was about to hit the peninsular. He refused to listen and sailed from Cape Town to round the point. The weather did turn and he was unable to get around the point loosing his ship and all on board were drowned. The captain was condemned for eternity to keep trying to get his ship around the point. Fanciful sailors have claimed to have seen the ship through the fog in stormy conditions…
Without wanting to copy the master Leonardo here goes a very tenuous attempt of the “Lady of the cap”
Thank you for what you have taught me on your course.

I am a commercial artist. I have learned Applied arts and have a bachelors degree for the same. For me art is like meditation. I practice drawing daily but don’t know that I am going in the right direction. So I always feel like having a good mentor to teach me would be best.
I want to draw everything I see because I like to express whatever I feel by putting it down paper or any other surface.
The more I paint, the more I like to portray people and their emotions. My desire to depict my feelings motivates me to do art every day.
I really like the Drawing Academy course, it helps me a lot in improving my art skills.
I enrolled in the Drawing Academy to improve my art skills. Growing up in the Caribbean I did not have the opportunity of getting any art education. However, I always was inclined to draw. I had been browsing the web looking for a class to assist me in improving my skills/knowledge when I cam across the Drawing Academy.
Hi everyone! I’m Jess, a self-taught artist and I’m entering this competition for a chance to further my passion!
This piece is a digital piece, done in Paint Tool SAI, since I’ve been working with digital art for a while and really like the capabilities it offers. It also saves quite a bit of energy for when I can’t work up the courage to create completely finished artworks!
Dabbing finger paints eagerly and molding a world of play-doh would mark the beginnings of my ever growing love for all that is creative in this world. From childhood to adolescents every sketch and impression of pencil, chalk or paint on canvas would proclaim my greatest fears and passions to all who beheld them. The strokes first exclaimed deep sadness but soon wandered joyfully into the expanse of, an immensely valuable, life where Jesus loved and knew me as his friend…
