I love paint portraits!
I feel that when I paint people, I get a connection with them. I think this is because painting is my passion.
“How can you learn drawing portraits without photos?”
I am Samruddha Purekar from India.
I have completed my Masters in Visual Arts, Portraiture. Art for me is a way and means of living. I believe that art exists within and around us, it doesn’t have to be superficial.
I feel its best explained through painting than through words and it takes a while to develop a technique unique to its own style but the learning process is never ending as knowledge itself is a vast ocean.
I am a late starter, found my passion for art in my 20’s. Decades later I find myself almost full circle, back to painting and drawing after years of moving image/time based work.
Art has always been a constant companion and force in my life, shaped me into who I am. The challenges I face at present after having had a formal art education, is to allow those critical thinking skills to take a backseat and engage again at a fundamental level with the very basic skills and craft of art making.
I am a self-taught artist and am currently pursuing a painting course from an online art academy. The academy is covering every aspect related to paints and techniques of painting, except drawing. Presently am dependent on reference images for drawing and I wish to change it.
There are many great museums around the world, but none compares to the eternal splendor of St. Petersburg’s own Hermitage. The Hermitage is the greatest attraction in St. Petersburg, Russia. With over three million items in its vast collections, the Hermitage houses the most impressive display of art and antiquities. Part of the exquisite charm and splendor of the museum is not only the collections, but the buildings themselves that house the collections. The Hermitage is made up of five interconnected buildings. The largest building, being the Winter Palace, did house the Romanov Tsars from 1762 until the revolution in 1917.
The art collection was started by Catherine the Great in 1764 when she officially made her first bulk art purchase. It has been augmented since, and houses great artist’s works like Rembrandt, Reuben, Matisse, Picasso, and Gaugin. With a world-wide collection, you can find an impressive display, from the entire global reach of art.
As an American illustrator, I work and live in Provo, Utah U.S.A. I currently am an author / illustrator who writes children’s books and creates illustrations, which teaches values. I believe that the world needs valuable art that brings out the best in people.
I have spent the last six years trying to develop my art. I am self-taught, and I struggle with the basics of art. I am now a full time devoted illustrator who has settled down after a life time career traveling as an international travel agent. I have hopes and dreams of someday making my mark on the art world.
