Childhood passion found again

Hi!

When I was a kid I was into super hero comic books and like most kids in that age I attempted to draw some super heroes of my own. Later I got more into fantasy art and as a grown up my focus shifted towards the academic art. Drawing and painting is just a hobby but in the most recent years I have made an effort learning the foundations through various courses and online tutorials.

I really appreciate the process of learning and when I am not working or spending time with my family I try to get as much drawing time in as possible.

I am a anthropologist and an artist. My fascination with art, culture and history has shaped my work as an artist.

Art has been a big part of my life. Ever since I was little I have kept a sketch book with me to record everything and everyone I see. I have always wanted to be an art teacher and have been accepted into a Masters in Art Education Program.

The greatest challenge I face when it comes to art is accurately drawing people. I love people and I want to capture their dignity and beauty so much. I have spent many hours studying human anatomy and drawing models. This is the area that I struggle with most.

I am an amateur artist living in the Tropical North Queensland, Australia. Art allows me to understand and depict the wildlife that I love because it forces to study my subject. This is a sacred spoonbill found in the wetlands close to where I live.

For many years I believed that I had limited talent. I compared myself to others and found myself lacking. In my 60’s, I challenged myself by taking art courses at the college level. In this community of students much younger than myself I discovered that I excelled! I never earned less than an A for my work. i was complimented on my willingness to try any medium and usually make it work for me.

I am excited to enter the drawing academy competition. I recently retired from being a public health nurse (RN). One of my goals for retirement is to develop my art skills.

Enhancing My Skills

I am a disabled veteran. Since I stopped working in 2004, I have not been one to just sit around. I had drawn a little since 1978. I felt that I was not good enough to pursue art as a profession, so I went on to do something else. I started drawing at the age of seven.

I need your help

Greetings to all. I have been painting and drawing for about 40 years on and off. Many years ago I was an aspiring artist and realized early on after showing my pictures in libraries and anywhere I could that I was going to be a hungry boy so I went into the factories and learned the manufacturing trade that paid much better than art.

Becoming an artist has always been my lead dream, I’m not surprised I’m living it now. Every new day opens a door of challenges of which i take on. Of a truth my utmost desire is to express myself with my pencils and to make others see what I see
