I have been drawing/painting for the last 30+ years. Art provides a freedom of expression in a very special way. I have attended various courses over the past 30 years and I am now working solo as a new stage in my life.
I was born into a military family. This offered ME an opportunity to travel and see much of this country. These travels afforded ME a great source of materials on which I have based my illustrative works; and provided me insight into his new vocation, writing. With three children of my own, I have only added to my resources for illustrations and writings. Plus, many years of working as a professional illustrator and graphic designer, I have found myself in a position of determining images and words to sell an idea.
Art is for me a religion, is thee place where I can sublimate my feelings and elevate my soul, it gives me love, trust and understanding for myself and for the others.
The challenge is that professionalism does not mean only a sincere and elevated expression of feelings and stories about life around you. Professionalism in visual art means to use a language of expression already known and cultivated by other artists and to be able to make a large category of public to like and understand your message.
I've been drawing for my pleasure since childhood, regrettably however, I have never sought to better my art professionally. I hope this can be a chance for that.
Hi, my name is Vic, I'm a self taught artist and so my art suffers from lack of knowledge.
I’ve learned all by myself. I’ve been trying so hard. Art has no value in my country yet we artists try very hard to exhibit our work.
I began my self taught art journey by drawing the people I admired. I got decent at drawing faces but couldn't really figure out the shading and contours involved in creating a portrait and don't even get me started on drawing teeth!. I've always loved going to museums and galleries for inspiration and really wanted to try my hand at painting but I cowered from it initially. I'd never imagined that when I picked up a paint brush, I'd instantly feel magic in its bristles. It was fun to discover this colorful path in all its strokes of reds and blues and yellows. It has become my most fearless form of expression.
I am Andy, a Zimbabwean by birth and now living in the Shetland Isles of the UK. My husband and I both collect art, and I trained as a classical singer in London before moving up to the isles where I teach music and run a weaving studio creating Shetland tweeds.
Art is central to my life. We have an active interest in collecting mid-century art and craft from around the world, including New Zealander, where my husband is from, Zimbabwe and South Africa, and Europe. Our collection includes textiles as well as paintings, drawings, photographs and prints.

I love to draw, I did follow an art course at school. I am currently going through a hard time in my life and art is the only thing that makes me feel better.
