Imagine and Create Art
Story and drawing from Anita. K
Hi, I’m Anita. K, I like to draw since I was in elementary school but due to my family and my environment never look art as more than just a hobby, I never think much of it and just draw in class. Never learn it, not even looking at reference, so my progress was bad. Back then, I never heard of fundamentals (shadow, perspective, anatomy). I did not know that to draw good, there are a lot of stuff that needs to learn. I thought that drawing needs talented people. I am finding my way to art and finally do my own research and find out a lot about art. The stuff that I need to learn and I need to work hard for it. I do regret that I don’t start early and I feel that now I need to learn everything in a hurry, like Im out of time.
Soli Deo Gloria
Story and artwork from Soli Deo Gloria (Kirsten Campbell)
This piece is called Incurvatus Exterius. It is the antithesis of Saint Augustine’s phase “incurvatus in se” which means “turned or curved inward on oneself”; a life bent toward and for oneself rather than outward toward God and others. It is a life that seeks all things for itself, using people, giftings, money, time, etc. to gratify its own cravings and promotion.
Art for life
Story and artwork from Meíssa Riguête de Araújo Lima
Hi, my name is Meíssa.
My main challenges in art revolve around the absence of a teacher who can clearly explain certain subjects that are very complex, I have already taken some cheap courses that I could afford, but none of them left me satisfied as an apprentice. Much of what I learned came from reading and researching authors like Andrew Loomis, Betty Edwards, Harold Speed, James Gurney, and others.
