I would like to express my enormous interest to get access to the course of How to draw. I suppose it would be a splendid opportunity for me to learn drawing from the beginning. Actually, I am strongly convinced that this valuable would help me in developing my scientific research and academic career.

My name is Souty Adel. I am Egyptian. I have studied conservation of monuments in El Fayoum University, Egypt from 2007 to 2011. The course of my studies included restoration and treatment of different inorganic and organic materials. In 2013, I acted as a restoration specialist at Kom Oshim museum, El Fayoum, Egypt, during this period I have begun my preliminary master study in conservation of artifacts. In the second half of 2013 I have started my academic position as a permanent teaching assistant in Fayoum university for teaching restoration and treatment of oil paintings. It was a big challenge for me to be an oil painting conservator as this field is multidisciplinary. Thank You!

Now I finally got through both the Drawing Academy and the Anatomy Master Class courses. It took me a while. I understand that I have a long way to go to master the art of drawing; however, I have developed a habit to practice a little every day and, from where I see it, I have learned a lot.

I have been a student of the Drawing Academy and the Web Art Academy for some years already and more recently I signed up for Old Masters Academy.

I value a lot the programs offered for a very simple reason: I can learn in my own time and at a pace that I can control, and I appreciate having this a kind of flexibility.

So few personalities of the history of humanity have transcended as much as Alexander the Great has. He lived 2,300 ago and he still is one of the greatest conquerors ever. His empire went from Macedonia and Greece to the Indus valley. His life is full of amazing stories that get mixed with mythology. As a matter of fact, this issue about the Greeks telling their story with gods and fantastic creatures make, on the one hand, hard to believe some events, but, on the other, makes it very interesting and fun. Nonetheless, his story served as inspiration for major works of art since he was alive. In this article, I will be focusing on the old Masters and a few representations of Alexander’s incredible life.

Are modeling apps for artists any good?

Question from Ed Gunderson, Drawing Academy student

I have been using an artist’s modeling app, “Handy” until I am more confident to tackle real humans. Your opinion on modeling apps?

I spent a fair amount of time looking for an online drawing course that wasn’t a waste of time and money. I’m not even sure how I found you, but I’m certainly glad it happened. I will save the review for when I finish, but I will say I greatly appreciate your methods and approach.

While talent is a lovely thing to have, determination wins out in the long haul. I leave you with a favorite quote: “Fascination and discipline are first cousins.”

Life Drawing by Manuel Forest

I want to improve my life drawing skills

A while back I took art classes in my home town, but since then life took over and I did drawing on and off without any guidance or direction.

My favorite subject is drawing figures and portraits. Finding a model is not always easy, but when I can, I draw obsessively.

The Drawing Academy course is a great place to learn figure drawing; this is what I want to do. The most important thing for me is to have some professional feedback about my art and get clear advise on what to improve. That is why I want to win this drawing course.

A sketch of a model - Drawing critique

I wanted to send this drawing because I need professional critique. I’m attending weekly life drawing classes locally, but my art teacher doesn’t give any feedback other than “great job.” I know I have a lot to learn in life drawing and showed this sketch to my family; they said it was good, but maybe they just wanted to make me happy.

I would really appreciate if you could tell me what is not right with this drawing and how can I improve.

Self Portrait in soft pastels

Here is a self portrait in soft pastels on brown colored pastel sheet. For this work I have used reference photo. Actually I want to do self portrait with the help of mirrors instead of using photo reference.
