I have been a student of the Drawing Academy and the Web Art Academy for some years already and more recently I signed up for Old Masters Academy.

I value a lot the programs offered for a very simple reason: I can learn in my own time and at a pace that I can control, and I appreciate having this a kind of flexibility.

In the Drawing Academy, in combination with the Anatomy Master Class, I was able to clearly understand the concepts needed to accurately represent the human figure by applying constructive drawing principles, perspective and anatomic proportions. I cannot say that it was all easy learning for me; I still struggle a lot and my progress is slow, although I tend to put all I get into my drawings and paintings, every time. So, today I come to show this example of a drawing that I just completed, which I hope you will appreciate as a proof of my accomplishments.

I titled this work “Lady of Moss: Study of a Nude in Nature”

My goal was to draw the human figure, to the best of my abilities, following the Old Masters Classical manners, with attention to proportions and obeying the anatomic build up of the human body. Because I cannot afford a real model, I used a professionally taken photograph as a reference for the figure – however, I did not copy the photo directly, instead I used my gained knowledge on proportions, anatomy and drawing construction to design the form, and further applying the right value shadings according to anatomic contours and masses of the body. I used charcoal as a medium over a fairly smooth watercolor paper. In addition, I colorized the mossy environment in the background with Panpastel medium.
