To Be A Charcoal Pencil in the Hand of God

My name is Meg and I am a 37 year old mother of 5. I have a degree in visual art, with a concentration in photography.

I loved my figure drawing classes in college way back when and developed a love for drawing portraits. I am a stay at home mom and with 5 kids my art was put on the back burner for over 13 years. My children are finally getting independent enough for me to start making art again. I can draw anything from a photograph but I can no longer draw whatever comes to mind without something to look at.

Born to Create!

My life has come around full circle from childhood, back to an overwhelming passion for art and the need to create. Grade school art class introduced me to drawing when our assignment was to draw our dream house. From there, I learned from books and used reference photos. I even did some fashion drawings in the 6th grade! In college, I studied interior design where drafting, drawing and rendering were my favorite classes. Later, I studied graphic design and art history. I have changed careers several times, and even though they were in creative fields, my passions were not fulfilled as it is in drawing, painting and sculpture.

Feedback from Drawing Academy graduate

I have now completed all the Drawing Academy assignments. Thank you very much.

I have found the course not only informative but it has also shown me the reasons for my frustration in my art work, knowing that something was wrong but not knowing exactly what it was and how to correct the mistakes. You have given me the knowledge as well as the confidence that I certainly did not have prior to doing your course. I feel that I have improved in all aspects of my art. When painting I now have the confidence to draw on the canvas with a paint brush and am able to get the drawing in without being terrified of what I was producing.

Artwork by Natalia Rybii

Hi everyone!

My name is Natalia. As I can remembered myself art always was a part of my everyday life. At first, there were many colored books, then my own drawings, then some art classes at school and finally many books about fine art. Nevertheless, all this was undirected and without any guidance.

I am in love with drawing and painting

Hello,

My name is Anita, I live in Germany and I love old masters works. I started to paint late at the age at 17 and even later, theoretically, to deal with art as well and finally I discovered my admiration for the old masters.

I painted a lot in allaprima and so,painting in many layers was a challenge to my patience because I had to take a break for two weaks after every layer.

I love drawing, but I did not find an opportunity to learn art at a drawing school.

I spent a lot of time learning drawing by reading books about art. I also try to learn how the old professional artists created an inspiring and dramatic feeling in portraits.

Quaint Creek, ink on paper

Hy, my name is Nicola.

I’m 25 years old and i’m from Austria. I’m very glad that i have the opportunity to share a picture of mine with you guys and also got the chance to win something really special!

I discovered Art the first time consciously as something special for me at the age of 18 i guess. My heart was the first time broken and i don’t know why but i started to draw and i felt better while i did it. Later i learned that my grandfather is actually really god at drawing but his father didn’t let him make a career out of it. So Art especially drawing and painting makes me feel closer to my grandfather and makes me just feel closer to him. So Art is just because of this connection a really personal and special thing to me.
