I’ve been working to develop my portrait skills to depict realism in both deep shadow and full frontal lighting. Capturing the physical depth and three dimensions in full lighting is not easy and requires the ability to “turn the form” very subtly as it turns away from the primary light source into “dark light” and finally into shadow…
Hello,
This is my first drawing after starting the Drawing Academy course.
It is made in HB graphite pencil, from a drawing by Bellini – The man with a turban…
I am extremely happy to have found and studied at the Drawing Academy. I am tremendously pleased and delighted with what I have learned. Your feedbacks have been both encouraging and thought provoking, focused on improvement.
I wanted to study a BFA as a mature student. I have 25 years experience as a teacher in the Middle East, I studied the curriculums of most art courses and found that in todays Art colleges there is no place for drawing skills. For me that’s a corner stone to learning art. Once learned one can digress but it’s the backbone of art…
Before I took the Drawing Academy course I was taking watercolor and drawing classes privately from different teachers, but I felt that something was missing. I wanted to understand the basis of academic drawing that my teachers could not give me properly.
I’m very glad I enrolled in Drawing Academy. The knowledge this course is providing helped me to progress more quickly…
My starting point to change my life Hello, I just want to say big Thank You for the Drawing Academy course! This course is amazing. I would like to work in the Film and Video-game Industry as a concept artist, so having good drawing skills is essential for my future career. The most important change after this drawing course is…
I am delighted to have found the Drawing Academy course – I have always had a strong interest in art but have not been able to take up any formal training.
Thanks to this course I improved my drawing skills and learned about the fundamentals of drawing, which has been extremely insightful. This course provides extensive range of educational materials including video lessons, book, art albums, and above all personal support by the Academy tutors. I also like that I can learn at my own pace when I actually have spare time (as a busy grandparent looking after two young grandchildren)…
Since retiring I have been looking for some new things to try. Art & drawing has been on the list.
Initially, I watched some drawing video lessons from one teaching company, which was OK. However, I found the Drawing Academy course much better. Watching someone actually drawing was very helpful. This made me to pick up a pencil and start drawing. I didn’t have any prior drawing experience, apart of doodling in a kindergarten.
Medical illustration has been a particular interest for me as I’m a retired doc; so I began with that…
Here is a painting recently done of my wife while she sat outdoors. The original drawing was done from life but I had to complete the painting from a reference photo that I took. (She was way too impatient to pose for a painting for as long as it takes me.)
