My Sister’s Gardening Boots

My interest in art began in my last year at school in the mid 1960’s. When I left school I continued to draw and paint, experimenting with many different media from pencil, ink, pastels, and paint. I went through periods of such as abstract art, cubism, expressionism, impressionism, etc., but it wasn’t until the 1980s when I discovered who I really was as an artist. I found a natural feeling for nature and creating work that was a cross between impressionism and realism.
When I was 37 years old I embarked on a 2-year graphic design and illustration course at Art College. I have also taken fine art studies part-time but found them disappointing as they never taught students ‘how to draw’, which was a huge drawback. When I left Art College I freelanced to the print trade and later embarked on a program of self-study, investigating the techniques of the old masters…
