This portrait was quite challenging, especially falling shadows on the face, curls and the background. However, previous lessons from the Drawing Academy lesson plan gave me such confidence that I was not in doubt at any moment in the process about being capable of completing this step. With the support and gentle guidance of Drawing academy video lessons as well as discipline, perseverance and attention to detail from my part it seems as if everything is possible. Discipline in completing this task taught me, too, how not to give into comfort also in other fields of life.

Finding Beauty in the Inescapable

My Quest was inspired by a t-shirt…Someone else’s random t-shirt which I only happen to look upon as I averted my eyes from Walmart’s bra aisle. Actually, it wasn’t the t-shirt itself, but the words on it: ‘Let’s Carpe Some Diem!’ Most people wouldn’t understand it; but it wasn’t greek to me. It was latin. And I was a homeschooler.

A continuous learning

My name is Elissa and I’m Brazilian, born in Belém/PA but currently living in São Paulo. I’m a theologian and a philosophy student and I’ve always loved to draw and to paint. I had, in the early stages of my life, some difficulties in recognizing and appreciating my interest in art. I thought I would dedicate myself to art only in my later years, when I’d have some time to spend on it. Fortunately to me, this is not what actually happened.

Art is my happy place

Like most people I have drawn and painted from an early age but was taught nothing at school, in those days Art wasn’t seen as important. Since leaving school life seems to get in the way. My way to better skills

Hey, My name is Emma Sofie. I am living in Norway together with my parents and 3 siblings. I have always liked drawing and colouring. I started for real to colouring in secondary school, and started mostly draw my own picture when I started at High School. I am soon starting my second year at highschool. I am in an education program for Art, design and architecture, and I want to work as an architect in the end. Therefore is art a big part of my everyday. I draw everyday and post my art on my instagram profile A_drawer_in_purple a few times a week. Lately, I’ve used a lot of hatching with dots in my pictures.

My name is Brian Smedley and I love to draw. I’ve been drawing a few years and enjoy learning from books and videos. I feel that taking the Drawing Academy course I can excellerate my learning so it’s not piece meal and I’m trying to tie it all together in a disjointed fashion for with the course there will be no guesswork in putting it all together.
