Artwork by Elissa Gabriela F. Sanches
A continuous learning
My name is Elissa and I’m Brazilian, born in Belém/PA but currently living in São Paulo. I’m a theologian and a philosophy student and I’ve always loved to draw and to paint. I had, in the early stages of my life, some difficulties in recognizing and appreciating my interest in art. I thought I would dedicate myself to art only in my later years, when I’d have some time to spend on it. Fortunately to me, this is not what actually happened.
About a year ago I went through a deep sadness and melancholy. I was completely unsatisfied with the path that I had taken. I was in the middle of my Philosophy master’s degree, writing my dissertation. At this moment, I started to put more work into my drawings, learning with videos on youtube. I started over with pencils, and carried on with watercolor, oils, pastel. I was obsessed with the freedom that art gave me to express myself, my feelings, my pain. I love the realism and renaissance art styles.
I found Drawing Academy in one of the Youtube videos that I watched, and bookmarked the link. I was looking into drawing anatomy properly (not only copying the figure on photo) and the proposal of this school seemed amazing to me. In art, I feel like walking in a obscure path, where I don’t know where I’m going. But I do know that I’m feeling good making this journey, and this, in fact, is what matters most to me.
I want to improve my knowledge and techniques in proportion, perspective, shadow/light, to work with the scenery, objects and animals. I am focusing on these three elements. I want to learn more and more how to express myself, and open my mind and soul to the several potentialities that I could learn. So, please, vote for me and help me to make great art!
