Hello there,
Before taking the Drawing Academy course, my drawing skills were basic, so I couldn’t even apply for any formal art university. The main purpose for joining Drawing Academy was to improve my skills and get prepared for entry exams.
Today, I am getting sketches and paintings commissions, and I also got admission in a university for fine arts – they found my portfolio really impressive and I give all the credit to Drawing Academy.
I started painting in my 60s. One nightly family decided to go to a Paint Bar for fun and I was automatically hooked. The next day I went to a an art store and bought my first set of paint brushes. I also have two grandchildren who have a love for art just like me. Often we spend our time together finger painting, exploring colors, and getting messy.

Since my childhood, I love drawing cartoon characters, club icons and some general pictures. I am amateur in drawing and I want to improve my drawing skills.
I was a born artist and always wanted to go to an art school for a strong foundation but somehow I couldn’t get in there. But my passion for art couldn’t stop me at any point and brought me face-to-face with art while leaving my job and all mundane concerns behind.
My Vision as an artist is that the purpose of art is to portray the beauty and meaning of life.
I work in various mediums such as oil, graphite pencil, and silverpoint, yet watercolor is the most interesting for me because it brings unpredictability. Mastering it gives a sense of achievement.
Born and raised in Russia, Siberia, I’ve spent most of my life working in the corporate world as a lawyer. After more than 15 years of a successful career in Moscow, I moved to Riga, Latvia in a search of new ways to fulfill my dreams. That’s where I became inspired by the colorful imagery of my surroundings, and finally and completely fell in love with painting.
This is my first charcoal drawing since an attempt at art high school 15 years ago on paper they gave me that was not suited for charcoal. It was a mess and I didn’t enjoy it. I absolutely love this medium now!
