My name is Brittany McKay, and I’m from a small town in New Brunswick, Canada.

I have been passionate about art for as long as I can remember. Although I am self-taught, I feel I could grow further if I had the chance to focus my skills, and learn new things. I love to learn, and grow in life, especially with my art. Direction and input from skilled professionals would help me in this endeavor.

I almost had the opportunity to take the animation program at my local college. I created my portfolio, and they skipped me one year of fundamentals, directly into the two year animation program. Unfortunately I didn’t have the money to attend, and couldn’t get a student loan.

So I continued to work full time as a supervisor in a fast food restaurant, until I got very sick. I went on leave, and this past spring I decided to start my own business. It’s been okay, I haven’t been selling as much as I would like, but it makes me happy and I’m pursuing what I have always wanted to do…

I am a 3rd year student at the Economic university and my specialty is Management.In spite of that I was in love painting and drawing my parent didn’t let me enter the Art Academy for studying what I love therefore I learn it on my own and I am 19 now and still learning…I have started to draw and paint since I was 3 years old.I had dreams about being a master in painting as Rembrandt who is my favorite artist.I still hope that I will be professional artist one day and that day I will really be proud of myself…

I have a Masters degree in Computer Science and worked in the software industry for 16 years. Having to manage a family and a demanding career took a toll on my health and 4 years back I gave up my job and went back to my childhood passion – art. Art has been therapeutic in so many ways, restoring my mental health and wellbeing. I don’t think I could have survived this change in my lifestyle without art.

I started with acrylic and oil, but the medium I find most challenging and close to my heart is water colours. I love putting in people, especially children in my paintings. Since I have never had any formal training in drawing, I find it difficult to get the right posture and the right proportions. I am a regular reader of Drawing Academy newsletter and after going through the free art instructional material in this website, I think that I would really benefit from your course, especially since Drawing Academy puts so much emphasis on learning from the old masters and the age-old, proven, traditional drawing methods…
