I have learnt so much here. This is the first time I’m studying drawing and it’s so much fun, it’s so easy to learn new things here. I am simply addicted to your courses!

Dear Vladimir and Natalie,

First of all, I would like to thank Drawing Academy for teaching me how to improve my artworks. Your lessons have taught me so much. Now what I need to do is work harder to reach my goals.

This is a drawing of my friend that I did when we were at a coffee shop. My goal was to capture the light in her face and her eyes, but I see a bunch of mistakes. Hair is my biggest problem. The amount of detail can be overwhelming to me; I guess cause I’m still an amateur. How can I render shade to the hair and face with over-rendering? And how to keep pencil lines smooth yet defined? …

Self-Critique:

My creative aim was to try and get photo realism. Outcome: failed.

I love this picture more and more as time goes by. Despite the failure to achieve the goal and all its perspective distortions, I honestly love the outcome. Cartoony looking but striking with color saturation and exposure.

What can be improved:

The most obvious perspective error that an untrained eye will notice is the distortion of the blue bowl behind her. Just drawing what I thought I saw and not knowing to draw what I didn’t know to draw at the time resulted in this distortion.

The vanishing point for the perspective of the bowl is located on a much higher horizon line than the actual point of view from which this picture was taken from, resulting in more of the back plane of the ellipse being visible at the top plane of the bowl, making it look odd because you get the sense that you are seeing the dog from the front yet the further object is seen from above…

I am Poncet, and I really love painting. I am from Reunion Island and this is the place that inspires me the most.

My favorites art movements are baroque, impressionist and romanticism.

Since I have never took drawing or painting classes, my level of painting is, I think, really low, but I hope to improve it with the Drawing Academy lessons!

Drawing Academy is a very good website and they have really good videos, I have watched them all.

Drawing Academy will really help me to improve my drawings and paintings. I think that the lessons are really complete…

I’ve been drawing since I learned to hold a pencil; my grandmother encouraged me by showing me how to draw horses (at that time, they were my favorite subject). I drew hundreds and hundreds of horses, even at school and in Sunday School class. Scolded often by teachers, I kept on drawing in secret! Finally, when I was nine-year-old, my mother enrolled me in private art classes in East Detroit. After that, I studied under various artists for about ten years. I later began to draw and paint angels, as the creative process truly is an observance of “angelic visions.” …

Hi, everyone. My name is Talaya Lightbourne. I’m a 21 year old student pursuing my dream to become an artist.

At age 11, I discovered that art was my passion and creative outlet, from middle school to high school I have taken all art classes. However, when I graduated high school due to finances i had to go to a college not of my choosing and the majors were limited, in the end I stuck with a major that didn’t align with my true path in life which is art. Now, I am starting over again to get back into my artistry and to become the artist I was born to be.

I love Drawing Academy because you can learn so many different techniques and skills. Also, I like it because you can take classes from the comfort of your own home…
