Inspired by art
Artwork by Angie
For as long as I can remember I have always had a love for drawing. However I never had the opportunity of any formal training. I have read books and tried different techniques by copying what the masters do.
I never seem to be able to draw from memory but can copy almost anything if given a photo. I came across the Drawing Academy a few weeks ago when I was investigating new skills and thought that I would benefit greatly from this course. Help me to become a better artist and inspire the world!
I think the Drawing Academy is a great place to develop your individual art style of fine art…

To Art!
Artwork by Ekene
Hi, my name is Ekene and I am currently an undergraduate at Wits University.
I’m studying Bcom law –a not so very artsy degree! I started drawing from a young age, probably six or seven and have only ever been self taught. I just dabbled y’know? I only started taking art seriously in 2014. I’ve spent a lot of money on art books, art materials and (excitingly!) bought my first easel during the December holidays. I come from a very academic family –so while the end product is appreciated, it’s difficult for my parents to understand why I practice ‘that drawing thing’.
I signed up a year or so ago to the Drawing Academy emails and I really like the structured learning that the course offers, how it covers all the comprehensive bits and bobs that an artist needs to know…

The joy of learning to draw
Drawing by Lis Engel
I always liked drawing and have been drawing intuitively. I followed an American Somatic Drawing course that opened into imaginary drawing, but these classical lessons open a totally different way of drawing. I feel very happy that I discovered it and am looking forward o continue to learning as much as possible – and also to have feedback on my drawings…
