I am a self-taught beginner artist who started this journey in January 2023. Since then, I have focused exclusively on graphite drawing. For me, art is about the challenge of capturing reality with just a pencil and paper. It has become a daily commitment—a way to test my patience and my ability to see the world clearly. Even though learning on my own is difficult, I haven’t given up because I am determined to master the fundamentals of drawing.

I joined the Drawing Academy course to learn the fundamentals of academic drawing, so I could start from a solid foundation and truly understand it. Thanks to this academy, I learned important principles that I was not familiar with before, such as shading, perspective, and how to draw portraits correctly. This course was very beneficial in developing and refining my talent. It helped me build a strong foundation in drawing and gave me the confidence to start drawing without fear, even though I do not practice as often as I would like.

I researched many drawing courses on the Internet and found that the Drawing Academy will satisfy my needs because I can study when time permits and have full support from the Academy tutors. What I need is someone with knowledge and experience to guide me thorough drawing topics and check my artworks to tell what to improve and how.

I love art because it helps to be myself, so I enjoy drawing. I found the information about the Drawing Academy course when searching videos on drawing on YouTube. I was interested in human anatomy and how to draw faces. Also, I wanted to improve my still life drawing skills. I’m very glad I took the Drawing Academy course because it helped me to learn many things in short time and I’me very happy about it!

I love drawing, but recently, after watching this video https://lifedrawing.academy/life-drawing-academy-news/how-to-self-assess-your-drawing-skills I realised that my skills are not as good as I thought. I lack many skills, for example how to measure proportions from life, how to construct objects from any angle and eye level, how to put objects in relation to one another. I also find it difficult to foreshorten in extreme angles. What I also want to learn is how to apply light and shadow.
