Drawing Academy review by Gopi Ghosh, Art Competition Winner

I received the full Drawing Academy course in November 2017 and since then I have been learning various techniques and principles from this course video lessons and also practicing whenever possible.

What impressed me the most, is the importance of of fundamental rules of drawing explained in this drawing course.

These have profound effects on the way I approach art. Some of them seem to be what I may call SOP (standard operating practices) –

“Always keep pencil tip well-sharpened – Build tonal values gradually – Keep in mind the direction of light – Draw objects as if they are transparent – Don’t overdo your artwork”, and so on… All these rules are very helpful indeed.

I again feel blessed to be part of this Art Community.

This artwork (of the legendary Howrah bridge over the Ganges in Calcutta) was intended to be an ink and pen on A3 paper, but I tempted to use water and slight touch of watercolour.

I admit there is plenty of scope for improvement that I will attempt in my next artworks.
