Art from Gondar
My name is Abenezer Mengistu. I am from Gondar Ethiopia. I studied art at Abissinia fine art and vocational training institute In Addis Ababa.
I grow up in Gondar In front of Fasil castle which was a Capita of Ethiopia in 16 century, those beautiful designs and the fresco paintings on the ceiling of Debre birhan selase church inspired me in my childhood to become an artist. Since then art become my primary language.
I face so many difficulties, when I decide to start learning art starting from convincing my family, searching to find any art academy, there is only one Private academy at that time. Still there is a lack of art academy in Ethiopia.
The Drawing Academy videos changes my way of perspective. The way, methods and teaching techniques are unique, strong and powerful so I follow every teaching videos and try to apply them in my works. But I wanna to learn more and more about drawing anatomy and painting. I want to increase my skill like masters, that’s why I want to win the Drawing Academy course to educate myself and to become solution for my country by opening little art academy.
