Hello,
My name is Alex Brown and I would like to share here my artworks before and after the Drawing Academy course…
I am a 77-year old male retiree who has been searching for an activity that is creative and fulfilling in my twilight years. My home is in Melbourne, Australia but I am currently staying with my daughter for three months in Amsterdam, The Netherlands.
I have been quite creative with my photography over many years but found it a little too easy to produce very good results. After retiring several years ago I took up wood-turning and produced many very nice pieces but had to give it up because it was so messy in a home environment and became quite dangerous when I developed shaking hands as a side effect of medication for a mild heart condition. What both wood-turning and photography showed me is that I do have a bit of a creative streak in me…
Artwork and story by Ray Grace, Drawing Academy Graduate Thanks for setting me straight (In the Round). Having drawn and painted from childhood, I have always loved artwork, however like many young people, I opted…
Vladimir, I am extremely happy to have found your Drawing Academy. I want to thank you very much for what I have learned so far. My art background is kind of pot-luck, so here is some history, because my history has very much impacted how my artwork habits came about and what I must unlearn.
I’ve drawn since I remember, and bought my first set of oils from Sears when at 13 (1949). But art as a career for a young man growing up in eastern Washington State in the 30’s & 40’s was not considered a viable choice. I eventually became an engineer to provide a living for my family, but never gave up artwork, especially portrait art…
Thank you Vladimir, thank you Natalie
This course gave me a great opportunity to develop my drawing skills, to learn a lot of things like perspective, human anatomy, hatching techniques and much more. I am self taught, and before the drawing course I only new how to draw “what I see”, not “what I know”.
Drawing Academy taught me “how to draw what I know”. This improved my art greatly. Your course gave me the knowledge of things that can only be learned at art academies…
Here, deep in the Kentucky foothills of the Appellations, a unique craftsperson turns guards into lovely bowls, adorned with cords of braided pine needles, small beads, and polished stone.
I chose the guard bowl to accompany an old art deco radio, a stein that came from my late fathers collection, and the draped yardage of some lovely lace curtain material, made in Czechoslovakia…
Drawing Academy’s introduction to silverpoint is a new medium to me that I will continue to explore. I’ve worked in lithography and etching but never thought of drawing in metal point until seeing Vladimir’s video. Over the past 3 months I completed the silverpoint images and a graphite rendering. These drawing techniques take some time. I also continue to develop my skill with regard to perspective.
Although I’ve covered all the topics videoed in Drawing Academy in university, I wanted to refresh my view towards the basics of drawing. Construction and perspective are of interest and I spent insufficient time on that before now. Recently I decided to work representationally. I’m attracted to wildlife or animal portraits but also other genre that require specific perspective for accurate composition in…
The Drawing Academy is a MUST for anyone interested in bettering their skills. I have seen my work vastly improve as a result of the Drawing Academy course!
FYI, I attended and graduated with honors from College in Commercial Art and realized when I started the Drawing Academy program that I had never even been taught the proper way to hold a pencil!
I spent hours in an Illustration class for months and months but learned more from the Drawing Academy in the first lesson than I learned in a two-year curriculum in college! The cost of my education was $14,000 – the money for the Drawing Academy is a fraction of that and worth 10 times more than my college education! It’s a lifetime of benefit and a priceless gift!
Regards,
Denise
