The Appeal of Hatching

The main attraction for me about enrolling with the Drawing Academy is because of the old master techniques that are taught, which cannot be found in any mainstream art school. My drawing skills were quite good before I enrolled with the Drawing Academy and most of my shading, especially with graphite pencil, was rendered by smudging to obtain smooth tones, which was my main fall-down.

Big thanks for Drawing Academy!

Hello,

I found the Drawing Academy website when I was searching for drawing courses on the internet.

I am a tattoo artist and drawing is absolutely necessary for me. I was able to copy-draw photos; however, I couldn’t draw from imagination and wanted to learn how to do that, so I could express my feelings and ideas.

When I found the Drawing Academy course and read all information about it, it hooked me up. The idea that I can learn drawing without using any photos was amazing. The course wasn’t too expensive, so I bought it without any delay…

The joy of drawing can drive my out of bed at 5 in the morning

I have been drawing every day for more than 6 months, and it fills me with so much happiness that it can drive me out of bed at 5 a.m.

Before I joined the Drawing Academy, I was mainly drawing from drawing books and from YouTube tutorials. Practicing with the Drawing Academy on a daily basis has given me thorough basic skills and knowledge, and I look forward to starting all over again with some of the drawing lessons and compare new drawings with my first attempts in order to evaluate my skills. I will certainly also consider other lessons from the Drawing Academy and would highly appreciate a course on the use of pastels…

Before the Drawing Academy course, I was drawing and painting what I SEE. The reason why I took this drawing course is because I wanted to learn how to draw what I KNOW.

For example, buildings in this pre-course painting (Santorini Greece) have different angles and look unbalanced. So, I decided to learn fundamental principles of drawing to improve my skills.

Now I understand well 1-point, 2-point and 3-point perspective. I can better judge angles and distances, which is important.

I also learnt more about human anatomy and what lies beneath the skin. This knowledge helps me to draw with the knowledge and confidence.
