I’m a 56 year old South African female. I never had the chance or opportunity to study art. Before I could read or write, I had a pencil and paper with me wherever I went and would sit and draw. When I went to school, I was drawing portraits of my school friends rather than doing my schoolwork!! I don’t have any particular style of drawing. I basically just start drawing what’s in my mind or what I see. I always wanted to paint but just didn’t know where to start. Finally, in 2009, I built up enough courage with some assistance from Norbert Schling, one of the top South African artists. I purchased some oils and canvass and found my passion in life! I would love to be taught the correct drawing and painting techniques in order to make it possible for me to achieve what I know I am capable of doing once I have the know how…

I am a self taught artist. I have never had the chance to study art. After school, uninformed that art academies exited outside South Africa, I studied graphic designing but did not complete it due to lack of interest.

My name is Heather Rigby, and I am an artist. I am a 20 years old, and live in the United States. I am on a journey of learning. Ever since I was young, I have had a passion for art. Not only for drawing, but for painting, sculpting, woodworking, and even Art History.

Art is my life, and I long to learn as much as I can about it. I have never had any professional training. I have learned only by observing other artists around me. By viewing fine works of art, and by studying techniques used by successful artists. Even though I have learned much on my journey, I want to learn more. Not only would I be very happy to win free lessons, but I would also be very grateful. It would help me take another step towards becoming the type of artist that I truly want to be. Just as the title suggests, art is my love. Ever since I was a little boy, Art is like a guiding light unto my feet. I was born into a Roman Catholic Family and since I was months old, my parents took me to church every Sunday. To this very Day, the baroque paintings in church seems to speak to me more than the sermons. Whenever I feel blue or joyful, I like to be left alone in the cathedral and stare at these paintings, and every time I look at the it feels like it’s the first time. Art has changed my life and kept me on the right track; and there were many personal moments in my life that happened because of Art. I lost my father 1 year ago and to me most of the moments I can ever recall that we had in common is art. Art is the only thing that keeps me moving on, to chase my dreams with integrity…

The reason of my life is to do art. I started draw from the age of 14, and never stop. I live in Buenos Aires Argentina, study Beaux Arts in the University of Arts in Cordoba Argentina, and like influence of south-american lines.

I feel that I need to improve my drawing and learn more and more. To find my way I want to win.
