This is my first charcoal drawing since an attempt at art high school 15 years ago on paper they gave me that was not suited for charcoal. It was a mess and I didn’t enjoy it. I absolutely love this medium now!

“After drawing a rough portrait sketch, I can feel that there’s something off with respect to where facial features and other key points are placed; however, I can’t pinpoint what is wrong and therefore could not correct those mistakes. Hello and thank you for the Drawing Academy course.
As a child I dreamed of being an artist, but as I approached adulthood more and more people advised against it. I dismissed my dreams as unrealistic and put my sights on a “real” job. After that I rarely picked up a pencil to even doodle. 20 years later I found myself a stay-at-home dad with an opportunity to give art another try. I knew if I ever wanted to be a successful artist I needed to know how to draw.
