To win the Drawing Academy course, is a great opportunity for me to learn the principles and discipline of the masters; the classical-timeless way that I always dream of. I believe it can help me to “effectively” express my passion in an artistic manner. I am 52 and have just begun (6 years?) to do art after taking an icon painting workshop. I am not married and work now in the field of physical therapy, but I work very long hours to make ends meet. Many people have told me I have talent, and the desire to make art has grown to the point where I believe it is a calling.
I have been drawing since I can remember. Art has always been a passion for me, helping me through depression, giving me a sense of worth. Art is journey for the more I learn about my self and life, the more it reflects in my art. I studied art in secondary school then I Graphic Design in college. I found graphic design unfulfilling. So I decided to quit and to do freelance art, though people generally like my work I feel I could be better, I have lots of ideas but they are limited because I can’t execute them. In the last few months I have decided to push myself, but i feel like I need guidance from a teacher.

I am a Colombian woman living in the United State of America. Worked for many years in various industries, and I never knew that I could draw! My husband said “You make very interesting doodles!” I was unemployed and needing a hobby. He bought me a kit, sketch book, pencils and boom! I got hooked. I knew of many relatives that could sketch and paint…me? Never!
I am 47 years old, a business man by profession with an Engineering background from India. While I have never pursued art in my earlier years have always been interested and fascinated with the subject. The maximum I had tried my hand on was on doing pencil sketches.
My name is Molly, and I am currently a senior in high school. This year I will be taking my second year of AP (or college level) studio art at my highschool, and i am also enrolled in an AP Art history class. Over the years my interest and aspirations for my art career have grown. Though my passion for art can be limited to the action of creating, I would also like to tell you it doesn’t end there.

This painting was made keeping in mind the short details of the beautiful state of Rajasthan which is present in India it shows the attire and the place of northern India.
The piece is an unfinished study idea dealing with our social stigma between beauty, age, and trying to keep youth. We struggle to be young and race against time.

At an early age the greatest luck was if you could get some kind of paper to draw on. When I was a child, after the war in my country, there was a shortage of everything but I loved to draw – I drew on anything… Later in school the teachers saw some talent in me and encouraged me to draw and paint.
