From words to pictures

After decades as a journalist in New York and a novelist, at age 78 two years ago I took up the art I began as a child.

I started in school and newspapers as a cartoonist but switched to words as a professional career path, becoming an investigative reporter and eventually an editor. After writing and publishing 18 novels [available on Amazon] in retirement, for a change of pace I returned to drawing and painting by taking courses at the local art center on Cape Cod. Soon I was selling paintings. But I recognized that I needed more instruction and support, as art, like writing, is a solo job requiring constant improvement.

I’m 58 years old have been drawing since 5. Self taught in watercolor and pastel. Have been practicing with various techniques over the years. Stopped drawing for 30 years or so just started back 4 years ago, I think I’m getting the hang of it again.

For me art is my therapy of sorts I go to another place my mind sharpens and focuses like a high almost especially if it turns out ok.

Innocence

I have been drawing since I was a child. It was an instinctive thing, something I did without thinking like breathing. But I never thought about becoming an artist and no one ever told me I was good. Somewhere along the way I lost touch with that part of me and I didn’t draw for years.

Now I am trying to get back into art and Drawing Academy course would be the very thing to help me with that.

Newcomer in art world

I’m Rajnesh from India, I’m doing diploma in painting. Art plays a special role in life not only for me but all the artists around the word, it makes us see thing in different perspective and open our minds and soul.

I wish to make great artworks, but my human anatomy knowledge is weak and hope to win the Drawing Academy course to learn this topic.

Gorgeous art

I have been drawn to beautiful art – drawings, paintings, colorful pictures, thoughtful flower arrangements or eye-catching patterns everywhere – since childhood. I knew since then I want to learn to draw and/or paint well.

I try to draw something everyday. Mostly I am interested in drawing portraits, faces and figures, or would simply doodle geometric shapes if time is limited. Over the last 15 years or so I have invested a lot of money in online art programs and books, and I am still learning from these.

Street of Dreams

My name is Jenga, and I paint because I wake up with the urge to create, to record moments in my life journey. My art is my conversation with the world. It tells the story of who I am, and where I am both mentally and emotionally. It is also my way of getting out there and seeing the world. Every piece that finds a new home is some place I’ve never been, but a small part of me now resides there. Art enables me to meet new people with the same interests and share my story, I find that comforting in a way.
