Artwork by Gina Henninger
My name is Gina and I’ve been drawing since before I can remember. I am 19 years old and my art is the most important thing to me. My friends never see me without a pencil and a sketchbook in my hand. I take those two things with me everywhere I go; just waiting for creativity to spark!
When I think of art, I think of something that draws your attention. Whether its a painting, a photograph, or just nature itself. Art is all around us and can be interpreted in any way! That’s why I selected this piece that I called “You Can’t Hide Your Secrets”. Other than the melted crayons, the picture itself is entire finger painted using face makeup. On the right is someone who appears to be cheating in cards and had a fake beard on to hide their identity. I used very dull colors to try to make them seem more dark and mysterious. On the left I drew an eye to show that someone is seeing past their tricks. The melted crayons are melting through the dullness of the mysterious guy’s hat to show that light will always overcome the dark.
Many people have seen my piece and have created their own idea of what was happening. I like that people can make their own interpretation! That’s why I feel like my piece is a successful work of art.
Heyyyyy cool stuff!!!!!!
