My name is Hailee,
and all of my life I have loved to draw. My mom always says I was the easiest kid in the world because as long as I had a pencil and paper I was as happy as a pig in mud. My world revolves around my love for creating, and I hope to make it my career. However, it’s hard to work towards being a professional due to the utter lack of knowledge I have. I take art classes in school but they do not teach anatomy, the golden ratio, proportions, and perspective. These are all things I am dying to learn because I feel it would improve my art significantly. Everything I know, I have taught myself through Youtube tutorials and books.
I want to learn the fundamentals of art so that I can become a better artist and easily enter higher art education in college. Being a sophomore in high school, the daunting task of creating a portfolio to submit to potential schools has added a new layer of stress to my creative process because I feel inadequate and ignorant.
I think that the Drawing Academy is the perfect place for me to develop the basic knowledge I yearn for.
I truly believe that without a solid base of knowledge I won’t be able to achieve my dream of becoming an illustrator. I lose confidence every time I pick up a pencil and struggle to understand how to put my ideas on paper. I am an extremely ambitious and diligent student at the top of my class, so I can assure you all that I will appreciate and utilize these courses to the full extent. Please vote for me so that I can improve myself and my art so that I feel more confident in my decision to follow my dreams of becoming an illustrator.
