The Great Escape!

I am a retired Information Technology Project Manager who finally has time to explore and enjoy art! I’ve been doodling and drawing ever since I was old enough to hold a crayon and over the years have learned most of my skills from books on art.
For me, art has become the Great Escape, allowing me to put aside day to day chores and problems and focus on something really enjoyable. I love it all… graphite and colored pencil drawing, pen and ink, charcoal, chalks/pastels, acrylics and watercolors.
My primary challenges in art at this point are perspectives, light sources/shadow rendition and of course choosing/blending just the right colors.
I think Drawing Academy is the optimum way to approach art. Learning from books is okay but being able to watch and learn from masters goes way beyond lessons in a book. As with many things in life, watching, listening and learning from a craftsman/craftswoman in action leads to a much better understanding of process and of course one gets valuable tips and tricks.
I would definitely like to win the Drawing Academy course to help me take my artwork to a higher level.
Why should people vote for me? This is tough to answer because there are so many deserving candidates out there. I have submitted one of my favorite colored pencil drawings of a cute little Boston Terrier named Louis. If you like what you see, please vote for me! Simple as that.
