Seeking Perfection!

I am 39 years old from Albuquerque, New Mexico. I am a self taught artist, now don’t get me wrong I took art class in school, but I never really learned a lot of technique. I mainly remember the teacher just giving us free reign to explore our creativity, but not much else. I find myself drawn towards hyper-realism in all mediums. I cannot seem to draw anything out of my imagination. When you look at my portraiture work it tends to favor at a minimum photo realism when I use graphite and charcoal. I would like to learn to be as proficient with all mediums including watercolor, oil, color pencil, etc. I also would like to learn how to draw photo realism from imagination.
