Little Old Granny learns to sketch and paint

Story and artwork from Lis Bry

I’m a gray-haired granny, actually a great granny as of a few weeks ago. Took up art in my late 60’s. I’m a late bloomer, learning as I go. Living in a semi-rural area with very few callers, this has become my passion and love. I have an indoor and outdoor easel now so it can be enjoyed in all weather.

My challenges are color and anatomy…getting the sketch as close to perfect as possible. I love trying portraits which presently is good but if they are of someone I know, they will never see them. I’m not good enough to yet but will get there. Being able to draw my grandchildren would be a blessing and something to remember me by. I want to learn as much as I can. My hands don’t shake and my eyesight is good enough.

Why do I want to win? Those of us on burnt out pensions can use every little bit of financial help out there. This would be a blessing.

Why should anyone vote for me? Well I cannot give you a sob story as that would be demeaning to both of us. Yet, I’d like this very much so if you are inclined and not offended by an elderly lady winning and do vote, I’d be very thankful to you.

I want to win this Competition and I need your help!
