My name is Lehlonono and my artist name is Bluey, I am 19 years old and I am an aspiring fine artist from South Africa. I love fantasy, especially dark fantasy my all time favourite movie series is Harry Potter and my all time favourite show in Miraculous Ladybug followed by Arcane. love pastry and chocolate. I’m also fascinated by all things technology and I listen to pop music with a touch of every other genre. I also enjoy playing a video game called The Sims.

Art is my passion, it takes up almost all the space in my lief. It consumes my time and dominates my headspace. It is all I like to think about and would be very glad if I can pursue it full time. I struggle a lot with trying to properly articulate or express with words how I deeply feel about things concerning my personal lief and emotions, art takes the space of a spokesperson in my life. With colours, shapes and lines, drawings, paintings and collages I can give my inner voice and true self a way of taking up the space it needs in this physical world. A way to be heard and seen.

The biggest challenge that I have in art is the gap between my current technical skills and desired results for projects which often leaves me frustrated and with an overall low sense of confidence in myself and art. Another challenge I have have in art is being able to bridge this gap in a more convenient way as I find getting access to resources that can help me in my case expensive which, sometimes, makes it difficult to refine my skills.

I enjoy drawing people, therefore I always have human figures in my art pieces as well as portraits both from imagination and from reference, so I want to learn how to draw figures and portraits more accurately and realistically and at ease. Painting is a new medium that I recently adopted, especially watercolor and acrylic. So far I enjoy painting therefore I would love to learn new techniques of painting and also learn how to paint at ease.

I want to win the Drawing Academy competition because the course come with a series of video tutorials covering topics in human anatomy and perspective in drawing to name a few. It is because of these tutorials I believe I will learn and be able to bridge the gap I’ve mentioned before at no cost which will be such a privilege. Not only does the drawing academy course offer tutorials on drawing and painting, members are also supplied with a range of other helpful resources such as support groups and books and articles which I think will be an great thing to have as a young and developing artist like myself. The Drawing academy competition prize also includes a drawing tablet and I also find it exciting to try out digital art and maybe even learn animation too.

Through the chaos within ourselves and the world around us, I firmly believe that we can all point out the beauty from that chaos, and fine art happens to be all about that, portraying beauty and giving meaning to life through painting and drawing and other mediums of art, and it has always been about that. The Drawing Academy is a great place to learn how to equipped with the skills to portray that beauty since they share the same vision.

I think people should vote for me because with this course ,especially form the Drawing Academy, I will really benefit from it a lot in terms of my skills and furthermore as an artist. I wish to grow and inspire people through my experiences and the things that I make, that’s one of my greatest wishes in this lifetime.
