Healing Through Art
My name is Fabien Barabé and I am last of eleven siblings and moved to from Montrea where I met my future husband and we moved to Halifax in 1997.
l have been drawing from an early age where I did comic books.
I moved on to cartooning and was published in two Montreal papers from 1994 to 1996 with a cartoon the Spice of Life.
With move to Nova Scotia I was introduced to acrylic painting and have had several art shows since 2009.
I joined the Peggy’s Cove Area of the Arts in 2012 and have have been well received throughout the events.
In 2016 I was diagnosed with Stage II Tongue Cancer (Squamous Cell Carcinoma) where I underwent a twelve hour surgery followed by intense radiation from the end of January to the beginning of March 2017.
Art has my lifeline to my recovery.
I joined Life Art classed both in Halifax and Mahone Bay to expand my ability with the human figure and have posed on occasion.
I know that the Drawing Academy Course will benefit and enhance my work through the vast knowledge provided.
Thank you,
Fabien Barabé
