‘Every artist dips his brush in his own soul, and paints his own nature into his pictures.’ – Henry Ward Beecher

I believe that as part of creation we are all ‘artists’ in one way or another, expressing our artistic uniqueness in who we are, be it in our words, attire, likes and dislikes, talents, goals and ultimately our expression of life itself.

As I journey on the spiritual path of self-discover I have stumbled on a hidden talent. Some years back with the encouragement of a friend I put pencil to paper and viola! ~ my first drawing appeared!

Excited by the results I set forth experimenting with pencil and charcoal, colored pencil and pastels. I find myself drawn to portrait drawing in particular, fascinated by the face that is slowly forming on the paper willing me obliging me to help it emerge and bring it to creation. I find the act of drwing a form of meditation, where I become so immersed in what I am doing that I lose all sense of time, where hours go by as though they were minutes.

So where do I go from here?

I feel that I have merely scratched the surface of this new world that is coming into view. I know so little. There is so much to learn! And by God’s grace winning this course will help me continue to develop this talent gift, taking it forth to new dimensions! And what better place to pursue this path of creative art than with Drawing Academy’s solid foundation and instruction based on the masters.
