Questions from D. Stalberg, Drawing Academy student
Hi,
I am currently enrolled in the Drawing Academy and am slowly working my way through the material. I have learned a lot from the videos I have watched so far, and am impressed with the quality of the material.
When I have worked through all (or at least a large portion of) the material in the Drawing Academy, I am interested in signing up for the other courses.
Is there any overlap/common material in Drawing Academy, Anatomy Master Class and Web Art Academy? Do you see the Drawing academy as the basic introduction/essentials of anatomy for drawing, and the Anatomy Masterclass as providing a more detailed/comprehensive discussion of anatomy? I also notice that there are a few Drawing-specific videos in the Web Art Academy course, although most of the videos are about Oil painting.
Many thanks,
D. Stalberg

Dear D. Stalberg,
Yes, there are two more art courses to consider:
//webartacademy.com – Oil Painting video course
//anatomymasterclass.com – How to Draw human figures and portraits
Drawing is the foundation of all visual arts. It is a good point to start your art education.
If you are interested in oil painting, in the Web Art Academy you will learn traditional oil painting techniques such as multi-layer, glazing, scumbling, dead colors, wet-on-wet alla prima, and so on. This course also includes few lessons on drawing, however those lessons about some additional creative techniques, not about drawing rules and fundamental principles of drawing.
If you are interested in creating realistic figurative artworks, then Anatomy Master Class is one of the best resources online that gives comprehensive, yet easy to follow instructions on human body, head and face anatomy and proportions, as well as shows useful tips for drawing human figures and portraits from life, memory and imagination.
The anatomy lessons in the Drawing Academy course are just a brief introduction into anatomy for artists. Also, those lessons are more focused on listing bones and muscles in Latin names; while in the Anatomy Master Class, you will find that Latin terms mostly replaced with common names and the focus of the course is shifted to how to apply the knowledge of anatomy and body proportions in figurative artworks.
As one great philosopher said – “a man is the measure of all things”. Even if you have no intention to do figurative artworks, the knowledge of human anatomy and proportions will be very helpful in understanding the beauty of the world around you.
All those disciplines are parts of the must-have art education. With missing parts, your art skills would not be complete.
Kind regards,
Natalie Richy and Vladimir London
