Experience Counts
My name is Charles Gilliam
I am the son of an Air Force veteran. We traveled all over during the time my Dad served, visiting much of the country and other countries. During that time I had the opportunity to see much and do much. As a young artist I was able to draw and paint many different subjects.
Now, I have found that those opportunities have only added to my desire to paint/create images of the beauties we see all around us. It has been that experience that has allowed me to grow. The painting I have entered is called “The Cow Boss.” This is a painting of a cowboy that has been working the range since he was a little boy. Over the years he has grown in the understanding of what it takes to run a team and then a ranch. Those many years of experience have brought to him the chance to be charge of the cattle operation on a ranch. He is the cow boss.
I feel that in order for me to grow as an artist I must do as this young man did and that is to gain experience. Winning an opportunity to be engaged in the Drawing Academy will allow me to continue to grow as an artist. And that is my desire – to grow as an artist.
