Dreaming of becoming an artist

I am housewife. I have done diploma in Interior Design and know some basic drawing techniques, but my dream is to become a creative fine artist, so I could tell my stories and make illustrations. I just got fascinated by drawing portraits. I tried to learn this topic on my own, but I realised the importance of traditional drawing skills. I was interested in Art education but was not able take it.

I began learning to become a fine artist about 6 years ago with an understanding that a key fundamental to accomplishing my goal would be to learn to draw, shade and contour accurately needs to come before I can gain the freedom to develop my individual style.

I took a workshop from an artist who was showing her artwork in Italy and was concerned she did not know how to draw well. At first I concluded that if she could get her work shown in Italy without being accomplished at drawing I could become an artist without knowing this skill.

I later realised my lack of knowledge and skill was holding me back from developing my art to the levels at which I wish to be able to create.

It would be great to win the Drawing Academy course because I would be able to study drawing at home and hopefully make my dream true!
