Drawing by Julia Hodgkins
I didn’t ever anticipate the pleasure drawing would bring!
I started drawing in January 2017 at the age of 49 years old. I did art at school until I was 13 and was reintroduced to it during a watercolour mindfulness class.
The therapeutic effects of the session were enough to spark my interest in painting and from there I moved to colour pencils and pastel pencils. I work in a school and am surrounded by incredibly gifted pupils and teachers who inspire me every day.
I thoroughly enjoy drawing and the pleasure it gives me and the people I give the pictures to is enormous! Drawing for others is a wonderful way to bring happiness and I currently do my drawings for friends and charity. I draw at every possible moment of my leisure time and have even persuaded my young children that this is a great way to spend our down time.
My lack of art knowledge and the absence of a technical basis is a challenge and I currently learn by using the quality resources Drawing Academy provides and by talking to people on Instagram about their work and techniques. I am lucky that the art community is open and generous! I have bought a number of books on the subject to help me and now feel that I would really benefit from the expertise and traditional approach to art that the Drawing Academy course could offer.
I would like to receive teaching on the skills in drawing and fine art. The videos, step by step tuition, and learning from obviously talented teachers would enhance my drawing and enable me to progress and develop my subjects. I would be extremely grateful for this opportunity to expand my art mind! The Drawing Academy offers great support and I am appreciative of all it has to offer.
Being able to view other people’s work and be part of their journey is inspiring and encourages me to improve my drawing skills. I would be so happy to receive the tuition on offer and hope that other people looking at my work feel that this would be a transformation opportunity for me.
By voting for me they will be giving me the chance to progress my drawing and improve.
Thank you
Julia
