I grew up on the prairie and my love of the land, particularly prairie land, remains with me. I went to college in Chicago, and those years convinced me that I belonged where there are wide open spaces. Having moved to the Kansas City area, I spent 30+ years in the corporate world and did commissioned portrait work during those years. I retired several years ago to produce paintings and drawings professionally. I teach and sell art from First Art Gallery of Olathe, am President of the MidAmerica Pastel Society (MAPS), and a member of Missouri Valley Impressionist Society (MVIS), and National Oil and Acrylic Painters (NOAP).
My ability to produce quality artwork is a very important part of my life. I am a grandparent, a business women, and an artist. Art is now my career, but also what I do to be happy and feel fulfilled. Because my family, my students, my friendships and the business requirements of art take so much of my time, I struggle, like every artist, with finding time to produce artwork.
I produce good work, good paintings and dawings, but I want to be a great artist. To be better at what you do, you must continue to learn, to tap into the expertise of other artists.
The Drawing Academy appears to be a program where I can tap into the expertise that will give me an edge, improve my drawing skills, and help me to produce great work. I am retired, have limited income, but still need to invest in improving myself. I teach to earn additional income, and I refer my more advanced students to programs like the Drawing Academy. My work is good, vote to help take my art to the next level.
