Earlier this year Orlando Nah has won the Drawing Academy Art Competition and received the full drawing course membership.

Here’s what Orlando says:

My art Journey – Drawing Academy Experience

As a self-taught artist for the past 45 years I gradually improved by trial and error, however I faced many challenges. I once challenged myself in doing a plein air and exhibited my first art work. I can recall a photographer commented that my artwork was not in perspective. This was a discouraging moment for me because I considered it to be one of my best work. At this point I realized that I needed much more that trial and error and practice. I needed professional help.

The Drawing Academy course has taught me so many things. I learnt how to properly hold a pencil, how to create tonal values with hatching and cross hatching as oppose to smudging, which is popular in most art teaching. I learnt to use linear and atmospheric perspective; I also discovered how to use comparative measurement and angles to depict anatomy. These are only some of the many techniques that I have discovered at the Drawing Academy. I am now consciously aware of what steps to take to achieve the desired effects. My art is gradually improving and so is my self-confidence.

I know that my art career is a never ending journey and one that will continue to improve. Whilst undergoing this education, I took on the challenge of teaching drawing at a local primary school. I found that helping others thru teaching has also helped me to develop my skills.

I recommend the Drawing Academy for anyone who seeks to sharpen their drawing skills. This course simplifies the concepts of constructing and developing your ideas and transforming it onto your artwork ideas an art piece using the Old Master techniques.
