A Childhood Dream

My name is Elena Cela, and I have been interested in visual arts, creating art, and learning art skills for a good part of my life. I grew up in Russian and my childhood dream was to attend the art school for children that was not too far from our home, a couple bus stops away. I remember envisioning myself becoming an art student and how I would study there and level up my skills, however, our family did not have the finances needed to afford said education for me. So, it was a dream that never came true for me. We moved to the US, I studies nursing and optics and graduated with a BS in Nursing and Optics. My passion for drawing never left. Later I ended up finishing a two year degree in graphic design, but later I realized it was not what I wanted. I wanted to pursue academic drawing and get better at drawing portraits, drawing people, and drawing from imagination with what I struggled the most.

Time went by and I got married; I now have two daughters, and a Husband I love. I have less and less time to create, yet, still my passion for art exits and it is my favorite hobby. It has stayed with me all these years. I will probably never be able to attend an art school and get a proper art education, however, this is a great opportunity for me to get as close to academical art education as possible through The Drawing Academy. My dream to attend art school can turn into reality if I win this drawing academy competition! If you vote for me to receive this education for free, I would be very grateful for your vote. I love drawing, but I certainly struggle with drawing faces and human body. I do have some knowledge of human anatomy, but the lack of proper art education that involves proportions, symmetry, and values shows in my drawing. Figuring out how to draw intuitively can be great, however, proper education by professional artists and teachers is needed to become natural at drawing, I believe. And that is where Drawing Academy comes in; it is the best source of academic art education online in my opinion. After searching and searching, (and searching a lot!) I found Drawing Academy by Vladimir London and understood that the way they teach is the education I have been missing all these years.
