My name is Nourhan Aljoundy, Syrian independent artist who lives in Milan city.
After I left the field of my previous study (Pharmacy) I started my real career in art, I did 4 children books as an illustrator, I worked in various projects as 2d animator.
Born in PR, and raised in NYC of a single hard working parent. As a young adult My dream was always to become an artist. With the limited economical resources I was not able to get proper guidance and formal training to develop the necessary art skills.
I am a lifetime student and I love to learn, especially in art and languages. Art has been a refuge, a retreat, a meditation, and an inspiration for me.
My name is Fabien Barabé and I am last of eleven siblings and moved to from Montrea where I met my future husband and we moved to Halifax in 1997.
l have been drawing from an early age where I did comic books.
I moved on to cartooning and was published in two Montreal papers from 1994 to 1996 with a cartoon the Spice of Life.
Joseph is a 19 year old Self taught artist who practically began art in late November 2018. Before that happened my life was empty and void and always felt like I was wandering in this weird dome with no specific direction. However when i started practicing art this gave my life a direction and to date i have a reason to wake up and grind. Art means life to me.
I have always wanted to draw this piece. I know some of my proportions are off, but overall I like what I was able to accomplish.
Thanks for the opportunity to compete for your drawing course. I am electro mechanical technician, 69 years old, living in a farmhouse at two hours from Guatemala City, enjoying the ambient of the trees and the birds singing, but a little far from the places where I could be learning to improve my drawing ability. I take care of 6 dogs that I have adopted from the street, and make a little work taking care of the trees and insects that are disappearing in other areas. How? Not destroying their habitat, simple.
Ever since my childhood, all I ever wanted was to be an artist. I could spend hours just drawing or colouring, and would become totally lost in a world of my own. Art has been a major source of inspiration and joy in my life. So much so that, I would enjoy doing anatomical drawings in my biology class and would do them for my friends in their practical books, as well!
My name is Jerome Nicolas, 33, a self-taught artist from the Philippines. Art has always been in my veins. As a boy, the moment I wake up, I will run in front of our yard, pick a stick and draw on the ground – anything I could think of, from fruit, people and animals.
